Parkway Plaza Mixed Use Facility
Traverse City, Michigan
This 45,000 square foot, three-story mixed use facility, located in Traverse City, Michigan, consists of first floor restaurant space and two floors of general office space. The building's design, although a simple box, engages the public through it's rhythmic window layout and plays itself along a facade that has been randomly pushed and pulled. The building reveals subtle hints of its structure and function through contrasting vertical stairwell massing as well. This anchors the building to its site.
The building includes panoramic views of West Grand Traverse Bay that can be experienced through the use of continuous fenestration designed on all three levels. The wood wall and floor structure is supported on a steel framing system used for construction cost efficiency. This provided the client with an economical means of construction in a budget conscious environment.
