Traverse City Residence

Traverse City, Michigan

The renovation and expansion of this “shot-gun” type historic residence in Traverse City, Michigan added much needed livable space on a very narrow lot. The existing front of the residence remained relatively untouched. The rear addition of covered entry, mud room and breakfast nook, provided views out to the back yard. The renovated galley kitchen of granite countertops and rail and style cabinetry is centered between dining areas. The upper level master bedroom, dressing and bath additions are framed within the roof gable end and dormer forms for an appealing sloped ceiling affect. This enabled the addition to conform within the roof heights of the existing structure. An additional renovated bedroom, bath and laundry space created an efficient floor plan for this growing family. The exterior roof dormers are centered on expansive double hung windows in the kitchen and breakfast nook areas. New siding, crown molding and trim detailing echoed the existing architecture.
